A viral video has captured the amazing moment that a pilot proposes to his flight attendant girlfriend.
Pilot Jon Emerson 24, was flying the plane from Detroit to Oklahoma City just two days before Christmas.
His girlfriend Lauren Gibbs, 23, was on duty in the cabin, as they were both on the plane on the day of their anniversary.
It was then that Emerson got down on one knee and popped the question.
Whilst speaking to the cabin via the pre-flight announcement with the usual information regarding flight time and journey, he then revealed the special day.
The video shows him saying: “This is a very special day for Lauren and me.
“It’s our anniversary today and she’s one of our very best flight attendants.
“I want this day to be known for the rest of our lives.
“I want to spend the rest of my life with her.”
As he gets down on one knee, the rest of the plane can be heard clapping and cheering as she kisses him and accepts his proposal.
He then tells the rest of the plane: “She said yes.”
Gibbs told The Independent that is was very out of character for her fiancee to do it: “I was caught so off guard.
“Jon is a really quiet guy, with a very shy personality so for him to do it in front of passengers was so not like him, but for me it was perfect and so thoughtful.
“We spend almost all of our time together on planes and working together so the timing and place was absolutely perfect.”
Emerson admitted to planning the proposal for three months to coincide with their anniversary.
It isn’t the first shock announcement made by a pilot, as earlier this year British pilot Joe Woolings also surprised passengers on the flight.
He revealed that his parents were flying for the first time on the Thomas Cook flight with him as the pilot, which they didn’t realise.
