The suspicious lack of information over her background in 2015’s The Force Awakens kick-started a load of theories – including the possibility that she is a descendant of the Skywalkers, of Emperor Palpatine or Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Now, there’s yet another sign that we could get answers in Episode 8.
Daisy Ridley has won the prestigious honour of being on the cover of Vogue this month; an article for which writer Gaby Wood had access to the Rey actress, plus directors J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson.
Although Ridley is not directly quoted, Wood writes at one point in the accompanying article: “She [Ridley] lets on that we’ll find out more about what has happened to her family.”
Will we find out precisely who her family are? That, it seems, will continue to be a mystery.
In the interview, Ridley spoke about her struggles with adjusting to life in the public eye.
“I worry that things start to seem normal that aren’t normal,” she pondered.
“You get rushed through airports, and you never have to queue, and you get tickets to things that you wouldn’t otherwise.
“I think it’s important to remind yourself that it’s not normal. It’s difficult, though, because it is my normal.”
The new trailer for Episode 8 was released earlier this week.
Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi releases on December 14 in the UK.
