Hamilton won his fourth Drivers’ Championship this year by beating his German rival by 46 points, backing the German to end his long wait for a world title next season.
Although he won the world title with two races to spare, the championship victory was not as comfortable as it may seem.
Vettel led for the majority of the campaign but made costly mistakes in Azerbaijan and Singapore.
The former Red Bull driver has now gone four years without winning a world title – before that he won four in a row.
And Hamilton has backed him to get back to his best when the 2018 season comes around.
“I’m not going to tell you what I’ve learned but you can see it and I think you guys have learned about him,” Hamilton said.
“He shouldn’t shy away from that. He will learn from the experiences, as we all do.
“I have had years like that. He has had years of complete solidity like [mine] this year as well.
“I imagine next year he’s going to be coming back guns blazing, but I don’t feel there’s anything I can’t achieve if I put the work in.”
The new F1 season gets underway on March 25 in Melbourne, Australia.
