This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby confirmed she was writing a second parenting book earlier this year, and fans were overjoyed at its release.

Sharing the baby news on Twitter, the mum of three who is married to Dan Baldwin – who is always inundated with queries about her style and dress choices and her weight loss secret- said: “Feeling excited because… there’s only 7 days until #TrulyScrumptiousBaby!”

And while it has gained a very positive reception from fans, some of the advice on weaning has caused some debate.

Within the book Holly tells parents to seek advice from a dietician, but says it is perfectly acceptable for babies to be weaned as vegetarian and vegan if their parents are.

She says: “Weaning a baby on a vegan diet does require a little more planning.

“Energy density of food can be a concern as vegan food is often high in fibre but not very energy dense.

“Foods such as hummus, tahini, bananas, nut or seed butters, dried fruit, nutritional yeast and fortified (unsweetened) milk make great additions but it does all come back to balance and variety.”

The NHS website states parents should: “Take care when giving children a vegan diet. Young children need a good variety of foods to provide the energy and vitamins they need for growth.”

The add: “A vegan diet can be bulky and high in fibre.

“This can mean that children get full up before they’ve taken in enough calories.

“Because of this, they may need extra supplements.

“Ask a dietitian or doctor for advice before introducing your child to solids.”

The advice divided fans, with one commenting on Twitter: “I don’t believe this is a choice parents should make for their child unless they have a serious reaction to animal products.”

Others praised the star however, with one saying: “Good for you for promoting the vegan diet from birth.”

Holly, who is mum to children Harry, Belle and Chester, revealed the news of a second book to her 2.2 million followers on Instagram early on in 2017, writing: “Exciting news… I’m SO thrilled to announce my new book, Truly Scrumptious Baby, is coming out in September!

“I was overwhelmed by the incredible response to Truly Happy Baby from fellow mums, so I hope this new book will be just as helpful, arming you with everything you need as you take the next step in your parenting adventure – weaning your little one and introducing them to the wonderful world of food!”
