Flight attendants have a difficult job dealing with passengers in a confined space on a daily basis.
From cleaning the aircraft to dealing with complaints, the job is often one without much of a break.
Part of the job is serving passengers meals during the flight, something which can be rather arduous.
It has been revealed how they often avoid doing this as much as possible.
Passengers who fall asleep make the job much easier due to missing out on the meal as they are not woken up.
Flight attendants often wait for many to fall asleep during the flight so they don’t have to serve as many meals.
A regular traveller wrote on Quora: “Some sources reveal that flight attendants sometimes wait for passengers to fall asleep before starting to serve meals.
“This is done to reduce the work load.” It also helps the cleanup, with fewer trays to wash.
Plane meals can often taste horrible, due to the taste buds being different in the air than on the ground.
Food is also frozen so that it can be transported onto the flight.
However, the two recommend things to eat on a plane for freshness are the bread rolls and a casserole.
These two items are often the best to retain their flavour as well.
There are even tricks on how to get served food first on a flight.
Skyscanner PR Manager Victoria Baillie revealed: “Choose the Asian-vegetarian option on the plane.”
The reason behind it makes sense when choosing the meal.
She wrote: “You get fed before anyone else, you avoid anything too greasy and stodgy (helps the jetlag allegedly) and I’m convinced the more niche meals are much better quality as they’re made in smaller batches.”
