Arsenal entered the international break having suffered a really tough loss in the hands of Manchester City. They are now gearing up for a London Derby against Tottenham, whom they will be hosting on Saturday, November 18th. Tottenham recorded back-to-back wins before the international break, one of which was a massive win against Real Madrid that saw them through to the next round of the Champions League.
Arsenal Preview :
Arsenal (6-1-4) suffered a really tough loss against Manchester City before the international break, as they fell by 3-1 on the road. It was a pretty balanced match overall, but Manchester City were much more lucky with their shots.
That loss put an end to Arsenal’s 5 match undefeated streak prior to that (3-2-0), but more importantly, it dropped them from the top 5.
They are now sitting at the 6th spot of the Premier League with 19 points, just as many as Liverpool, and Burnley, the surprise package this season.
Arsenal have been dominant at home so far in the league (5-0-0), where they have scored 13 goals against 4 conceded. However, 3 of those 4 goals were conceded in the 4-3 win against Leicester City in the premiere.
Moreover, Arsenal have done a pretty solid job in the Europa League so far (3-1-0), as they have already qualified to the next round of the competition.
Tottenham Preview :
On the other hand, Tottenham (7-2-2) were engaged in a really competitive match against the unlikeliest of opponents, Crystal Palace, right before the international break. Despite the competitive nature of the match, Tottenham managed to score the only goal of the match at the 64th minute, and grabbed a solid win.
Prior to that they had recorded a massive 3-1 win at home against Real Madrid in the Champions League, a win that saw them through to the knock-out round of the competition.
However, Tottenham suffered quite an unexpected elimination from the EFL Cup a couple of weeks ago, when they saw West Ham come from two goals behind to eventually defeat them by 2-3 at home.
As far as the Premier League is concerned, Tottenham are still sitting at the 3rd spot of the league table with 23 points, just as many as Manchester United. Both teams are just a single point ahead of Chelsea, and already 8 points behind Manchester City.
Tottenham have been really strong on the road so far in the Premier League (4-0-1), where they have scored 12 goals against 3 conceded. Their only loss was a slim 1-0 on the road against Manchester United in their most recent match.
Arsenal vs Tottenham Head-to-Head Stats :
The two teams were stuck at a 1-1 draw in this venue last season, before tottenham won by 2-0 at home. There has been a weird balance in this match-up the past 3 years, with each team having won twice, while 4 matches ended as draws.
However, Arsenal have been dominant as hosts against Tottenham in the past 20 years, having lost just as ingle match in that span (14-8-1).
Moreover, the last 3 matches between the two teams in this venue have been 1-1 draws.
Arsenal vs Tottenham Prediction :
Tottenham will be coming into this match with a couple of crucial absences, as goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is injured and will probably not make it, along with Alderweireld, Lamela and Wanyama. That severely weakens their defense, as the 2nd goalkeeper is also doubtful. Arsenal have been dominant as hosts in this London Derby, and I will follow them here.
Arsenal vs Tottenham Betting Tips :
Since Tottenham will almost certainly be missing Lloris, I will go with Arsenal’s -0.25 @ 2.09 here. Moreover, I wouldn’t be surprised if Arsenal outright won here, and the 2.40 odds are really tempting. However, I am not so sure about the Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.62, as we just might not see a goal-fest here.
